Studio Tips & FAQs

New to Yoga/extendYoga?

Welcome to extendYoga. We are a warm and delightfully diverse community that is accessible to everyone – all ages, body types, ability and experience. We come together to practice an equally rich diversity of yoga. We have yoga for you. And your life. You can be an experienced practitioner looking for a new studio, or someone looking to try yoga for the very first time. You don’t need to be super flexible and/or athletic to attend our classes. Choose the class that’s right for you; we offer classes in-person, online, and outdoors.

Whoever you are and whatever your experience with yoga, we want you to enjoy your time with us and practice your yoga. If you need any help or have questions, please call 301-881-3330, email hello@extendyoga.com, or stop by anytime!

If you’re practicing with in-person, Welcome Back! Please visit our In-Studio Protocols page before your first class.

First time visit tips

Not sure where to start? First: Create an account online here before your first class. Then, view our schedule and sign up for the classes you want to reserve (in-person, online, and outdoor).

We’ve got a great New Student Special (2 weeks unlimited classes for $30), so you can try a bunch of different classes and teachers. We recommend purchasing this special online prior to your first visit. This pass start 14 days after your first visit (not the date of purchase).

After Your First Two Weeks

During/after your “New Student Special,” we’ve got multiple class pass and membership options, including our (most popular) Monthly Membership. Sign up for the Monthly during your New Student Special and enjoy 50% off your first month ($49 instead of $98). Reach out to us to set this up.

Tell Us About You (injuries, health concerns, etc)

Please let your instructor know if you have any injuries or special health concerns before class begins.

What should I wear & where can I leave my stuff?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move without constriction. If you’re joining us in-person, please review our studio protocols. Leave your shoes, socks and all your belongings in the front cubbies, or locked out of sight in your car.

Can I eat before class?

Eat lightly and hydrate properly. Give yourself an hour to digest any food and make sure to drink water before and after class (especially for heated classes).

Honor our (*your*) space

Please be respectful of everyone’s mat and personal space. Classes may be in session when you arrive; be mindful and keep your voice low. Please arrive to classes 10-15 minutes early so you can get settled in your class without disrupting others.

Cell phones ~ Help us keep the peace

Please, no cell phones in the studio (even if they are off). If you need to make or take a call before/after class, please do so outside. If you must bring your phone into the studio, please turn it off or silence it.

Reserving online

To secure a spot in your favorite classes, we encourage you to reserve ahead of time. To reserve, visit our online scheduler: Online Scheduler. If a class is sold out, no problem. You can add yourself to an online waitlist, which will reserve your spot automatically if/when a spot opens up. If you’re joining us in-person, please review our studio protocols – including our Cancelation/No-Show Policy.

Arriving to class & waitlists

Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before your scheduled class to give yourself unrushed time to check-in and get settled before class starts. We will hold your reservation until 5 minutes before class start time. If you are not there, we will give up your spot to those who may be waiting or on our waitlist.

Cancelling class reservations

Can’t make it to a class that you pre-reserved? No worries. Do us a favor and cancel at least 2 hours before class starts (to avoid forfeiture of your class). Please make space for those who may be waiting to get into class and cancel ahead of time. We will hold your spot until 5 minutes before class start time. If you are not there, we will give up your spot to those who may be waiting or on our waitlist.

Mats, towels & water

Bring a mat and towel to class. Bring water with you (we have water fountains for you too). We have mats available to rent for $2.

Heated Classes

We offer heated/not heated classes (please check our schedule as heated classes may be on hold). Choose the classes that are right for you. If you are taking “heated” or “hot” classes or tend to sweat a lot, towels are required (to help protect our floors and avoid anyone slipping or injuries).

Community + Reduced Rate Classes

We never want cost to be a barrier to your yoga practice. We strive to make yoga accessible to everyone by offering lower price classes on our regular, weekly schedule. Check our Pricing & Passes page for our “Karma Pass,” which is a 5 Class Pass ($50) that is intended for those who may need financial assistance / are experiencing financial hardship. This pass can be purchased once every calendar month. More details/terms can be found here.

Inclement Weather Policy

In the case of inclement weather, please check our online schedule for cancellations before heading to the studio. We update the online schedule ONE HOUR prior to class start time. Make sure to follow us on social media as we also post updates on facebook and instagram. If you are registered for a class and it is cancelled, you will receive an email notification and your pricing option will be returned to your account.

Expired passes/workshops & refunds

Please log into your online account to check expiration dates of your classes and pass(es). All class passes and workshops/events are non-refundable and cannot be shared. Pre-registration is required for workshops. We regret that workshops/events are non-refundable and non-transferable. We know ‘life’ happens, and we try to be as accommodating as we can, but we also work hard to support our teachers. If you need to chat with us about your pass expiration date, please email us at hello@extendyoga.com.

Referral Program = Get FREE Classes!

Bring a friend to class and get a free class for yourself (or to pass the class along to someone else). Number of referrals are unlimited. Free class cards can be picked up at the front desk. Share the gift of yoga!

Bringing your kids to class (sorry, no babysitting)

We request that children under the age of 12 not come to (adult) classes. Children ages 12-15 may come to class accompanied by a parent. Parents will need to sign off on waiver forms for children under the age of 18 (either in person or online). Please do not have your kid(s) wait in the lobby while you are in class; we can’t be responsible for them. Make sure to check our schedule for specific classes for kids!
