Lika Elwood(she/her)
Teacher, Teacher Training
With over 10 years of experience teaching yoga in countless settings (yoga studios, gyms, health facilities, public schools, corporate offices, online, and many more), Lika Elwood, ERYT-200, strives to teach with equality, diversity, and inclusiveness in mind. She holds a space for students to move, breathe and be still and supports them with a warm smile along the way.
She teaches students of all levels, backgrounds and ages; encourages them to try new, unconventional poses/transitions, and to modify/amplify their practice based on their own needs and desires.
Lika was born and raised in Syktyvkar, Russia and moved to Washington, DC when she was 24. Her whole life she has been drawn to movement and dance, which eventually led her to yoga. Initially she was drawn to yoga as a way to stay flexible, strong and to find relief for her lower back pain. After a short time however she discovered the power of yoga as a path to a more balanced, compassionate and meaningful life.
Shortly after taking her first Yoga Teacher Training in 2010, she became a full time yoga teacher. She is grateful for the opportunity of guiding people through this beautiful practice and witnessing her students’ victories, small and big. Lika has been a lead teacher of extendYoga’s Yoga Teacher Training since 2015, specializing in sequencing, sanskrit, hands on assists, advanced asanas, and more.
Lika’s training is diverse and continuing. She has taken countless workshops and Teacher trainings in different styles of yoga including Vinyasa Flow, Prana Flow, Ashtanga, Rocket Yoga, Jivamukti, Kids yoga, Aerial yoga, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Yin and Restorative yoga and Ayurveda.
Lika is a co-author of a children’s book about yoga “Om Om on the Farm” which was published in 2019. Lika continues to be a student and a practitioner first and only then a teacher. She lives in Charleston SC with her family.
